Information

Here is some information about Cute ‘n’ Clever Kids

Hi, my name is Aideen and I would like to give you some information about myself and my child minding service, which goes by the name of Cute ‘n’ Clever Kids as is based about 4km south of Drogheda. I am married to Mark. We have four wonderful children, Emily, Caitlin, Harry and Layla.

I have been working in full-time day care, for over 15 years, since I finished school at the age of eighteen, firstly in Germany, as an au pair and then caring for children in a Kindergarten in Wiesbaden. When our first child, Emily, was born, I decided to set up a full day care service for up to six children in my own home.

Mark lived in America for a year, after completing two years in Rathmines College of Commerce studying Marketing. When he returned he was a manager in a hardware store. After 10 years he decided for a change in his career and studied childcare over the last 5 years whilst working with me. He has completed multiple courses on childcare including FETAC Level 5; QAP (Quality Awareness Program), Childminding Practice, SARI, Child Protection, Occupational First Aid, etc. and is in the process of completing FETAC Level 6. He has also completed a number of courses in photography and has provided all the photos in this website (unless otherwise stated by Cute ‘n’ Clever Kids watermark), you can find more information about him on his own website here. Aideen & Mark Inside

I have completed a first aid course, a variety of FETAC level 5 courses including, a childminding practice course, a child development course, a special needs course, SARI, working with children 0-6 and a childcare course (which included health and hygiene). We are HSE registered and we are also registered with both Louth and Meath County Childcare Committees. We are also fully insured and we also have full car insurance for taking the children on outings. We offer a free school drop off/collection service to certain schools as well.

We provide a structured service with the emphasis on learning through play using a combination of Montessori, High/Scope, Froebel and Steiner. We work on all areas of development (physical, linguistics, intellectual, emotional and social). We provide a safe and healthy learning environment where children can learn from 2 years to 5 years through “Educational Fun”.

Montessori is a greatly hands-on approach to learning. It encourages children to develop their observation skills by doing many types of activities. These activities include use of the five senses, kinetic movement, spatial refinement, fine and gross motor skill coordination, and concrete knowledge that leads to later abstraction.

The High/Scope educational approach is based on the belief that young children build or construct their knowledge of the world — they are “active learners.” This means learning is not simply a process of adults giving information to children. Rather, children discover things through direct experience with people, objects, events, and ideas. They learn best from pursuing their own interests while being actively supported and challenged by adults.

Friedrich Froebel, the German educationalist, is best known as the originator of the “kindergarten system”. Froebel’s philosophy of education is encompassed by the four basic components of (a) free self-activity, (b) creativity, (c) social participation, and (d) motor expression.

Aideen & Mark Outside The Steiner philosophy on education for the child under 7 is to ensure the child is nurtured physically, emotionally and spiritually. Play in early childhood is the best preparation for a self-realising adult life.

There are both indoor and outdoor activities and on occasions we go on nature walks, for picnics or visits to the park, weather permitting.
